Keeping cool is a key to keeping costs down in divorce

On Behalf of | Mar 4, 2016 | Uncategorized

The phrase “cooler heads prevail” can be applied to almost every situation you will encounter in your lifetime. So often, we face situations that are so frustrating that it is nearly impossible not to give an emotional response. But the problem is that our emotions typically want to be satisfied in the moment, with little regard for long-term consequences.

And perhaps the most important time for a person to keep a cool head is when going through the divorce process. A divorce is often rife with hard feelings, resentments and acrimony, all of which can get your emotional pot boiling to the point of overflowing. As a result, it can be very easy to get into protracted disputes regarding property division, child custody, child support and alimony.

It is not unusual for one ex-spouse to know what buttons to push to make the other lose control. And sadly, sometimes a divorce devolves into an endless series of button-pushing moments that create havoc and make reaching a settlement far more difficult. And the time wasted in pointless anger can result in legal costs becoming needlessly expensive.

So, if you are in the process of divorcing and are having a hard time keeping your emotions in check, you may want to solicit the services of an experienced family law attorney who can represent your interests. At Regan Armstrong & Associates, PLLC, we have a history of helping clients work toward getting the divorce settlement they deserve.
