Actor and estranged wife arrive at child custody terms

Generally speaking, the less time a couple has been married, the simpler it is for them to finalize a divorce settlement. However, if the couple have a child, then a divorce following a short term marriage could become complicated. A case in point is the recently reached settlement between actor Jeremy Renner and Sonny Pacheco.

The couple had been married for only 10 months prior to splitting. They have a 2-year-old daughter who became the subject of a custody dispute. Ms. Pacheco had petitioned to have full custody of the child.

As it now stands, Mr. Renner and Ms. Pacheco are to share joint physical and legal custody. Mr. Renner will pay his estranged wife $13,000 monthly in child support. Mr. Renner?s attorney says the custody agreement will act as the foundation of the pair?s final divorce judgment.

The process has not been without its drama. It has been reported that both sides brought issues to bear regarding each other?s parenting skills. The agreement now stipulates that both parties must refrain from speaking disparagingly about one another while in the presence of their daughter.

This story demonstrates how quickly a marriage can deteriorate. Should the situation become too fraught with emotion, it may become impossible for a couple to work out a custody agreement. But it is important for both parents to stay focused on what is in the child?s best interests.

If you are in the process of filing for a divorce that has become acrimonious, you may want to contact a Texas family law attorney. The attorney could help represent your interests. In doing this, you may be able to reach custody and support agreements that are best for all involved.
