Many of our Houston readers are aware of the very short marriage between reality television star Kim Kardashian and NBA player Kris Humphries. Well the bliss lasted all of 72-days, and the couple’s divorce is now set for trial on May 6. According to sources, Kardashian-now pregnant with musician Kayne West’s child-wants the marriage ended before July, when the baby is due.
The trial itself is expected to last three to five days, and could end up surfacing details about Kardashian’s reality show endeavors. Humphries has insisted that the marriage be annulled, claiming that Kardashian only married him to increase the popularity of her reality show, making the marriage a fraud. Kardashian, of course, denies the allegation, saying that case should be resolved as a divorce.
A newer development surrounding the case is Kardashian’s alleged claims that she may have difficulty bearing children due to the long-term use of birth control pills. Kardashian reportedly claimed that testing showed she may have trouble conceiving, though Kim’s doctor, sources claim, had actually assured her that she shouldn’t have any difficulties. It is speculated that Humphries’ attorney will use this as supporting evidence that the marriage was a fraud.
In terms of the prenuptial agreement, the details are unknown. It really isn’t surprising that a prenup is involved in the case, given the considerable wealth both parties brought to the table.
Prenuptial agreements, of course, are not only for the rich and famous, but can be useful to even ordinary folks. Anybody who wants to minimize the financial costs associated with a failed marriage can benefit from a prenuptial agreement.
