Sensitive Handling Of Child Custody Matters

Various legal issues can accompany divorce or the establishment of paternity. The most significant issue is the continued welfare of your children. Texas state law mandates that all decisions that affect children will be made in the best interests of the child, whether determined by the parents or the court.

Regan Armstrong & Associates, PLLC, is a Cy-Fair area family law and wills and probate law firm with a particular focus on such children’s issues as:

  • Child support
  • Child custody (Conservatorships)
  • Visitation (Possession)
  • Establishment of paternity

Cypress Child Support Attorneys

When custody or conservatorship is granted to one parent, the court will typically order the other parent to help support the child or children financially. Texas courts take child support very seriously and apply the Texas child support guidelines that require a specific percentage of the parent’s net income be designated for child support, regardless of if the parents are divorcing or were never married.

Our firm support lawyers can help negotiate reasonable terms for child support or enforce an existing support order if a parent has neglected to make child support payments. We always work with the best interests of the child in mind.

Compassionate Texas Custody Lawyers

At Regan Armstrong & Associates, PLLC, we help clients determine the terms of child custody. Texas child custody is regarded as either a sole managing conservatorship or a joint managing conservatorship.

A sole managing conservatorship exists when one parent is designated to make substantive parental and legal decisions. As the conservator, that person becomes solely responsible for acting in the interest of the child. The child will live with the conservator. The other parent has specific visitation, or possession, rights unless the other parent’s rights are terminated.

More commonly, a joint managing conservatorship will be established. This means that parents share the responsibility of making substantive parental and legal decisions in the best interests of the child. Domicile is the legal determination of where the child will live, and must be decided by either the parents or the court.

Our law firm is committed to assisting parents in the resolution of children’s issues in divorce. We firmly believe in providing legal solutions that keep the best interests of each child in mind, and encourage you to do the same.
