Mother allegedly abducted son

On Behalf of | Jul 31, 2014 | Uncategorized

When parents here in Texas are unable to live together under one roof, a decision must be made regarding living accommodations for their children. Sometimes, this decision is made by a court based on the court’s determination of what is in the best interest of the child. It is incumbent on both parents to adhere to all child custody terms that are mandated by a court.

However, sometimes a parent decides to ignore a custody order. Such situations can sometimes escalate to a point where a parent takes ill-advised or dangerous actions.

Authorities recently worked in tandem to discover the whereabouts of a boy who had been abducted in July 2012. The abduction was allegedly committed by the boy’s mother, in violation of an order regarding child custody. An Oklahoma court issued an arrest warrant for the mother in 2013.

Authorities were able to trace the location of the mother and the boy to Atlanta, Georgia, where the mother had taken on an alias. Upon tracking the mother down, authorities placed her under arrest.

The child’s father, who was in Oklahoma City, was then notified that his son had been recovered. At present, the father is in contact with Georgia authorities in an effort to arrange his reunion with the child.

A parent may believe they a have good reason to not honor custody orders. Regardless, such actions can have a significant negative impact on the lives of all involved.

If you are a parent who is having child custody issues with your child’s other parent, seeking a legal remedy to the situation is something you may want to look into. A Texas family law attorney may be able to see to it that your rights are upheld.
