A television anchor for a Texas television station has for a number of years presented a weekly segment concerning children in need of being adopted. She provided stories on 350 different children and reportedly 75 percent of them were adopted by families.
The woman recently retired from her position. As a surprise to her, a 14-year-old-boy appeared upon the show and who had been featured twice on her program. In the first instance an adoption attempt ultimately failed. After the young boy then was relocated to various homes the newscaster made one more attempt to find him a family. This time the adoption procedure was a success.
The anchor woman was understandably moved by the boy's visit. She stated that having the boy on television "helped him touch millions through him being able to talk about his story."
The young boy told the audience that the network woman's efforts had made his life worthwhile. These efforts, he stated, made him the person he had become. He also felt he would have been in worse circumstances had her help not been provided.
While such an undertaking is challenging, there is probably no greater difference any family can make than by taking in a child that has been placed for adoption. Prospective parents will need all of the assistance they can get to make certain that laws are complied with and the adoption process goes smoothly. It's for this reason experienced family law attorneys who understand the entire adoption process are needed.
Sometimes adoptions are legally contested. There are other circumstances where a foster parent may pursue an adoption where the court of Child Protective Services is already involved. Attorneys can provide legal advice and representation until the child is finally allowed to come home.
